WELCOME
to the First Baptist Church
of Portland, Oregon!
On this website, you'll be able to find information about First Baptist Church, our beliefs, our service to the community and the world, and our church family. We are an American Baptist congregation committed to being "Ambassadors for Christ to the Heart of the City."
We'd be delighted to have you join us any Sunday for worship or Sunday School, or for one of our other weekly gatherings. See the many opportunities to be connected and involved in the life of First Baptist Church.

See our Annual Report!
The race for mayor of Portland cruises to its conclusion this month. So far the race is civil, as the three primary candidates engage one another in dignified debate and run homey, positive TV ads. Not so on the national scene, where partisan voices often paint the other side as not only mistaken, but evil, anti-American and a threat to civilization as we know it. The flaming rhetoric is fueled by millions of dollars of contributions from wealthy individuals, corporations and organizations that see the world through the lenses of their own interests and ideologies. Ordinary folks often feel ignored, manipulated or insulted by this process.
How should Christians respond?
