FBC Covenant

We have been led by the Spirit of God to receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on profession of our faith we have been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

In the presence of God and this assembly, we most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant as one body in Christ.

The Scripture states that Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. He died for all, that those who live, might live no longer for themselves but for Him who for their sake died and was raised.

By the aid of the Holy Spirit we will walk together in Christian love, strive for the advancement of the church in holiness, wisdom, and service.

Therefore, we will sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and the doctrines, contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

We will strive to be worthy of the purpose to which we are called, maintain family and personal devotions, educate our children religiously, seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances, be just in our dealing, abstain from harmful habits, be exemplary in our deportment, and zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior.

And because we are one body in Christ we will watch over one another in brotherly love, remember each other in prayers, and aid each other in sickness and distress.

We will cultivate Christian compassion in feeling with courtesy in speech; being slow to take offense, and always ready for reconciliation.

And inasmuch as we are urged to remain steadfast, ever abounding in the work of the Lord, we promise that if we remove from this church we will promptly unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

Now unto Him who is able to keep us from falling, and to present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever.

Amen.
